After nearly seven years at Rucstall Community Centre, local family support charity Home-Start Basingstoke & Deane has relocated to a new base at Oakridge Hall For All—a move that marks an exciting new chapter in its mission to support parents and give children the best possible start in life.

The charity, which has been working with families across Basingstoke and Deane for more than 20 years, provides vital one-to-one support for parents facing challenges such as isolation, poor mental health, and financial hardship. It also offers regular group sessions for families with babies and children under 5.

With a core team of six now settled in Oakridge, the move ensures Home-Start has the space, facilities, and community connections needed to expand its reach and deepen its impact.

“We are thrilled to be settling into our new home at Oakridge Hall For All,” said Bethan Rixson, Operations Manager at Home-Start Basingstoke & Deane. “This move to such a thriving community centre means we can continue our work with local families and strengthen our partnerships with other support services.”

At the heart of everything the charity does is its belief in empowering families to give their children the best start. With trained volunteers and experienced staff, Home-Start offers practical and emotional support tailored to each family’s unique needs.

Lucy Blake, Centre Manager at Oakridge Hall For All commented “We’re delighted to see Home-Start join us at the Hall. The work they do complements many of our other centre users, and being based here will allow them to continue their great work in the years to come.”
