It’s been an interesting time! We at Home-Start Basingstoke and Deane are continuing to keep in touch with and support families in and around Basingstoke during the Covid-19 crisis. At the moment we have over 90 families open who are keeping our staff and volunteers very busy!
You might have seen us on Facebook and YouTube – Rhyme-time with Dawn, wellbeing tips from Bethan and activities for young children from Jools.
Our groups are up and running using Zoom and are proving very useful in keeping people connected, sharing experiences and discussing difficulties and problems caused by the lock down. We are about to start a new school readiness course also via Zoom with activity packs delivered to families each week.
Other support has included
- Delivering essential supplies to families who are shielding
- working with the local hubs to arrange food parcels
- behaviour management advice
- delivering activity packs and craft materials to families
- support with school and college applications
- benefits advice
We look forward to when we can meet again in person! Meanwhile stay safe and enjoy the sunshine!
